On 21 August 2019, a group of unidentified, masked and armed men abducted Bustop TV comedian Samantha Kureya, popularly known as Gonyeti from her Mufakose home.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) anti-riot officers assaulted Talkmore Fani Mapfumo a local journalist with online publication Zim Morning Post today, 16 of August 2019, in Harare for filming the police officers when they were dispersing protestors in the Central Business District (CBD). 

Nunurai Jena a correspondent with the Voice of America’s Studio 7, was on the morning of 7 June 2019 arrested and detained without charges for three hours by police in Kadoma in Zimbabwe’s Mashonaland West Province.

Prominent Zimbabwean musician Sulumani Chimbetu on 5 April 2019 reportedly assaulted freelance journalist Tendai Guvamombe after the musician did not take kindly to a question that had been put to him by the journalist.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officers this afternoon intentionally shot three teargas canisters into occupied offices belonging to 263Chat, a local media organisation based in Harare.

MDC Alliance security details are reported to have harassed Tafara Chikumira, a journalist with the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Cooperation (ZBC) during a rally held in Gweru’s Mkoba stadium on Sunday 24 February 2019.
