Judgment reserved in journalist Madzikatidze’s bail application
What happened
High Court judge Justice Muchawa, on 19 March 2026, reserved judgment on the bail application by detained journalist Gideon Madzikatidze, who is employed by Bulawayo 24.
The date on which judgment will be delivered will be advised once it has been finalised.

Madzikatidze, who was denied bail by Harare magistrate Ruth Moyo on 2 March 2026, is facing two charges.
- Contravening Section 7 (1) as read with subsection 4 (b) of the Broadcasting Services Act [Chapter 12:06] (providing a broadcasting service without a licence).
- Cyberbullying as defined in Section 164B of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act [Chapter 9:23].
