Summary comparison of AIPPA and the gazetted Freedom of Information Bill

15 Jul, 2019
A preliminary summary comparison of the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (AIPPA) and the recently gazetted Freedom of Information Bill (FOI Bill).

MISA Zimbabwe has carried out a preliminary summary comparison of the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (AIPPA) and the recently gazetted Freedom of Information Bill (FOI Bill).

The comparison points out the main problematic areas relating to AIPPA’s right to access information provisions and how these areas are addressed in the current FOI Bill.

This is not an exhaustive comparison or analysis of the gazetted FOI Bill.

MISA Zimbabwe is still working on an exhaustive analysis and this will be released once finalised.

The preliminary summary is available to view and download in the Resource Centre on the MISA Zimbabwe website.
