Journalist Moyo granted bail

Jeffrey Moyo was granted bail on 15 June 2021 after spending 20 days behind bars on charges of contravening the Immigration Act.

Journalist Jeffrey Moyo was on 15 June 2021 granted bail on appeal by High Court judge Justice Takuva in Zimbabwe’s second city of Bulawayo.

This followed the denial of bail on 31 May 2021 by Magistrate Rachel Mukanga.

Moyo was granted bail on the following conditions:

  • That he pays ZW$5000.00 to the Clerk of Court Bulawayo Magistrates Court 
  • That he surrenders his passport to the Clerk of Court Bulawayo Magistrates Court 
  • That he continues residing at his given address.
  • That he reports to Mabelreign Police Station once a month on the first Friday of each month. 

Moyo is being charged together with Thabang Manhika an employee of the Zimbabwe Media Commission on charges of contravening the Immigration Act.
