Media freedom and freedom of expression are rights that are core to the practice of journalism. The safety and security of journalists, need to be guaranteed in order to ensure that they carry out their professional duties without fear or favour. These rights are constitutionally guaranteed and must be respected.

In line with the belief that more needs to be done to promote the protection of journalists as they cover election related events, MISA Zimbabwe is undertaking a series of safety and security workshops across the country. As journalists, it is important to take one’s safety and security seriously, particularly in the elections season and be aware of the risks that come with the profession.
