Police summon journalist over arrested ZEFF leader

23 Aug, 2017
Bulawayo journalist Pamenus Tuso was summoned by police in connection with the case of arrested Zimbabwe Economic Freedom Fighters opposition leader, Innocent Ndibali.

Bulawayo journalist Pamenus Tuso was on 22 August 2017 summoned by police in connection with the case of arrested Zimbabwe Economic Freedom Fighters (ZEFF) opposition leader, Innocent Ndibali.

Ndibali, holder of a British passport, is alleged to have addressed about 35 journalists at the Press Club in Bulawayo on 18 August 2017.  In so doing, he allegedly violated the conditions of his holiday visa in contravention of Section 36 (1) of the Immigration Act.

Tuso was then summoned in his capacity as the chairperson and convener of the press club meeting. Tuso told the police they had only invited the local ZEFF leadership who in turn invited their foreign based compatriot.

Tuso is now expected to appear in court as a State witness in the case against Ndibali.  He was accompanied to the police station by Bulawayo lawyer Vivian Chikomo, a member of MISA Zimbabwe’s  Media Lawyers Network.
